Baby Cream
Is it ok to give my baby cream of wheat instead of cereal as a first food?
I would mix it with breastmilk and Only put a small amount in? my friend says that it's perfectly fine and that's what she did with her baby, but I just want to make sure.
I would suggest trying something a bit less complex at first, such as rice cereal, just to make sure your baby is ready for solids. How old is your baby? On the side of cream of wheat it says it can be used for infants and toddlers so I don't think it would hurt him or anything, but it may be harder to digest than the rice cereal...
Go with your instincts and watch for problems - my son has loved cream of wheat since he was 7 months old. If neither side of the family has history of allergies, your child isn't likely to have a reaction.
ADD: People are so afraid of allergies these Days, it's unreal. My mother had me eating all table foods at 4 months old and I'm not allergic to anything. They didn't always have baby food in the supermarkets, and kids are more likely to have allergies today than when our great grandparents were feeding straight from the kitchen table... just a thought....
